This festival celebrates the appearance day of Lord Nrsimha, Lord Krishna’s half-man, half-lion incarnation. Lord Nrsimha incarnates to protect Prahlada, the pious son of the demon Hiranyakasipu, by killing the demon while fulfilling the boons Lord Brahma had granted him.
