Terms
Last updated: September 1, 2026
1. Who we are
This website, iskconsv.com (the “Site”), is operated by International Society for Krishna Consciousness of Silicon Valley (ISKCON) (“ISV,” “we,” “us,” “our”), a California nonprofit religious corporation and a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, EIN 77-0463781, located at 1965 Latham Street, Mountain View, CA 94040.
ISV is a branch of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). ISKCON temples and centers are separately incorporated and independently managed. These Terms apply only to this Site and to services ISV operates. They do not apply to other ISKCON organizations, temples, or websites, including sites we may link to.
2. Acceptance
By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
Where a form on the Site asks you to confirm that you agree to these Terms, your agreement is given by checking that box before submitting.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date above shows when they last changed. Material changes will be posted on this page before they take effect. Continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
3. Eligibility
Anyone may browse the Site. To make a purchase, donation, or payment, you must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract, or have the involvement of a parent or legal guardian.
Some ISV programs serve children and youth. Registration for those programs is handled through separate forms completed by a parent or legal guardian, and is governed by the terms provided with those forms.
4. What the Site offers
The Site provides information about ISV and its activities, and allows you to:
- read about our temple, classes, festivals, and community programs;
- view event listings and register or RSVP for events;
- sign up for our newsletter, volunteer opportunities, or local groups;
- make donations, including recurring donations;
- purchase books and sponsor book distribution;
- make payments for courses, sponsorships, and other temple services;
- view embedded video and other media.
We may add, change, or discontinue any part of the Site at any time.
5. Donations
Tax status. ISV is a 501(c)(3) organization, EIN 77-0463781. Contributions to ISV are deductible as charitable contributions to the extent permitted by law. The deductible amount depends on your circumstances and on whether you received anything in return — see “Goods or services received” below. We will provide a receipt or acknowledgment as required by IRS rules. Please consult your tax advisor about your specific situation.
Goods or services received. If you receive goods or services in return for a payment — a book, a meal, admission to an event — the amount deductible as a charitable contribution is limited to the amount you paid above the value of what you received. Where a payment of more than $75 is partly a contribution and partly a purchase, our written acknowledgment will state the good-faith estimate of the value of the goods or services provided, as the IRS requires.
Designated gifts. Where a form invites you to choose a project — the temple, book distribution, food distribution, or the Sunday Festival — you are indicating a preference, and ISV will make reasonable efforts to apply your gift accordingly. Your gift is made to ISV generally, and ISV retains discretion to apply funds where the need is greatest, consistent with its charitable purposes. If you wish to make a gift legally restricted to a particular purpose, please contact us at info@iskconsv.com to arrange it.
Recurring donations. If you set up a monthly or annual donation, it will continue until you cancel it. You may cancel at any time by contacting us at info@iskconsv.com or by using the cancellation option provided by the payment processor. Cancellation takes effect for future donations; it does not reverse donations already processed.
Refunds. Donations are generally non-refundable. If a donation was made in error — an incorrect amount, a duplicate gift, or a recurring donation you intended to cancel — contact us at info@iskconsv.com within 30 days and we will review the request. Where the circumstances warrant it, we will issue a refund.
Payment processing. Donations made through this Site are processed by PayPal. Donations made in person at the temple are processed through our Square kiosk. We also accept bank transfers by Zelle. ISV does not receive or store your full card number. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms.
Donations do not go through the book store checkout, which is a separate system used only for purchases.
6. Purchases, shipping, and returns
Pricing. Prices are shown in U.S. dollars and may change without notice. We try to describe books and other items accurately, but we do not warrant that descriptions, images, or pricing are error-free. If an item is listed at an incorrect price, we may cancel the order and refund you in full.
Sales tax. Applicable sales tax, if any, will be added at checkout.
Availability. Orders are subject to availability. If we cannot fulfill an order, we will contact you and refund you in full.
Shipping. We ship purchases within the United States. Books sent outside the United States are generally distributed through our sponsorship programs rather than sold, and are handled as donations under Section 5.
ISV is run by volunteers and dispatch depends on stock on hand, so orders are usually shipped within two weeks. If we cannot ship within that time, we will contact you with a revised shipment date and give you the choice of agreeing to the delay or cancelling for a prompt refund, as required by applicable law. If an item is out of stock we will tell you and offer you the same choice.
Returns. If you are not satisfied with a purchase, you may return it within 30 days of receipt, with proof of purchase, for a full refund or an exchange. Please contact us at info@iskconsv.com before sending anything back so we can tell you where to send it.
Items should be returned in resalable condition. We are a temple, not a store, and we will deal with any reasonable request reasonably.
Return shipping. If a return is the result of our error — a wrong, damaged, or defective item — we will cover return shipping. Otherwise return shipping is at your expense.
Damaged or incorrect items. Contact us at info@iskconsv.com within 30 days of delivery and we will arrange a replacement or refund.
Sponsorships. Book sponsorships and similar contributions support distribution of books to others. Where you receive nothing in return, they are contributions and are treated as donations under Section 5 rather than as purchases under this section, and the 30-day return policy above does not apply to them. Where a payment described as a sponsorship also delivers books or other items to you, it is treated as a purchase to that extent, and the “Goods or services received” paragraph in Section 5 applies.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Site for any unlawful purpose;
- interfere with or disrupt the Site, its servers, or its security;
- attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Site or to accounts of others;
- use automated means to scrape, harvest, or collect data from the Site;
- submit content that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or infringing;
- impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with ISV or ISKCON;
- use ISV’s name, logo, or marks to solicit funds or represent yourself as acting on ISV’s behalf without written authorization.
8. Intellectual property
ISV content. Text, images, photographs, video, audio, and design on the Site are owned by ISV or used with permission, and are protected by copyright and other laws. You may view and print material for personal, non-commercial use. Any other use requires our written permission.
ISKCON and BBT materials. Certain books, artwork, trademarks, logos, and other materials appearing on the Site are owned by the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust, ISKCON-related entities, or other licensors, and are used by ISV with permission or other authorization. All rights remain with their respective owners. Nothing on this Site grants you a license to reproduce, distribute, or publish that material.
Feedback. If you send us suggestions or comments about the Site or our programs, you agree we may use them without obligation to you. Please do not send us anything you consider confidential.
Photographs, testimonials, and other contributed material. If ISV wishes to publish a photograph, testimonial, or similar material you have provided, we will ask your permission at the time. For material featuring an identifiable child, we will ask a parent or legal guardian.
9. Photography and video at ISV events
ISV events and programs are frequently photographed, recorded, and livestreamed. Signage to this effect is posted at our events.
Incidental and crowd images. If you attend, you may appear incidentally or as part of a crowd in images and footage that ISV publishes in its newsletters, website, social media, and outreach materials.
Featured use. Where ISV wishes to use an image in which you are individually featured and readily identifiable — particularly in promotional or fundraising material — we will obtain your permission first.
Children. Images in which a child is individually featured and readily identifiable are not used in promotional or fundraising material without the permission of a parent or legal guardian.
Requests. If you would prefer not to appear, or would like an image of you removed, contact info@iskconsv.com and we will make reasonable efforts to accommodate you.
10. Third-party services and links
The Site uses and links to services operated by others, including payment processors, video platforms, mapping services, and social media. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their content, practices, or availability. Their terms and privacy policies apply to your use of them.
11. Accuracy of information
We try to keep event times, class schedules, temple hours, and other information current, but the Site may contain errors or out-of-date material. Schedules change, particularly around festivals. Please contact us at (650) 336-7993 or info@iskconsv.com to confirm anything you are relying on.
Nothing on the Site is legal, financial, medical, or tax advice.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
The Site is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, ISV disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, secure, or free of errors or harmful components.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by California law, ISV and its officers, directors, employees, and volunteers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Site.
Our total liability for any claim relating to the Site will not exceed the amount you paid to ISV through the Site in the twelve months before the claim arose, or one hundred dollars ($100), whichever is greater.
Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot be limited under California law, including liability for fraud or willful injury. This section concerns use of the Site and does not affect claims relating to ISV’s premises or in-person activities.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold ISV harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the Site or your violation of these Terms or of any law or third-party right.
15. Governing law and venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Santa Clara County, California, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
16. Privacy
Our Privacy Notice describes how ISV collects, uses, and protects personal information. The Privacy Notice is not incorporated into these Terms as a contractual term.
17. General
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. These Terms are the entire agreement between you and ISV regarding your use of the Site.
